So right off the bat, these do not respond the same as wood sticks, which is not a negative, simply different. these are as different from wood as the acrylic light up drum stick toys are from wood. these are way more lighter in weight, yet the durability of these is un matched. for the price they are wonderful. now with that being said these like everything else in the world of drumming/percussion aren't for everyone. For me aside from simply getting used to them and learning to adjust my playing style to better use these they are a 10/10 will definitely buy again.

I seem to hit pretty hard, or maybe something in my technique puts undue stress on my sticks - any rate - I go through sticks like crazy in rehearsals. tried everything - wood, carbon fibre, and now these - for me the best of the bunch. These are aluminium sticks with a replaceable hardened plastic sheath and tip, and they simply don't break, though you will have to replace the plastic covers every now and again. - be careful when ordering the replacement covers, to get the right length as there a three different lengths available - as I understand these take the "medium" covers, but haven't actually had to replace them yet. The replacement covers are pretty cheap - about what you might pay for budget sticks, but will last you way longer!the blurb on the box warns that the sticks could bend if you hit cymbals side on, but mine have been just fine, even though I have caught the side of the crash pretty hard a few times - I think they're just covering themselves against every eventualitynow, playing - they do feel a little different from wooden sticks - the overall weight isn't so different, but its distributed differently, so the balance point will be different - although I actually prefer the weighting of these, so its worth trying them out. I was expecting that they might feel a bit "dead", but was pleasantly surprised to find they have a nice springy response - I like playing with these, and get plenty of dynamic control from them.If you read other reviews, you will have heard that the metal grips can be slippery. This is true, especially once you get a good sweat on - could be a problem, but you can use grip tape if you feel the need. I don't bother - It's not a huge problem for me, I bought these for practise sessions, and they are perfect for that - I will probably still use my carbowood sticks for gigs, though, just because they don't slip out of my hands so much.Overall - great sticks - no problems that I didn't know about beforehand, and will save me a bunch of cash in the long run.
