The window bracket and motor went out in our jetta tdi. I searched around and found this to replace it. I'm not mechanically inclined but it was easy swap out and fix myself. Took about 20 minutes

It arrived with one area damaged, though it was in a box within a larger Amazon box; the larger outer box was not damaged. The inner box was damaged apparently before shipping in the Amazon box. The panel is sturdy enough overall & with metal clips that have a plastic glide bushing inside; it's better than the OEM in my VW with plastic clips. Add some grease to the metal rails for up/down movement and a bit more on the cables. Also bolts might be loose in each corner of the regulator, 10 mm, as two were about 1/2 mm off from being flush with the metal panel on the one I received. Better control is needed regarding damage prior to inserting in larger Amazon box before shipping!Make certain that the clips on the regulator rails are centered in the hole as shown in photo. When removing old panel get clips centered in holes for access with hex driver or 10 mm socket, and set up new panel the same way with clip bolts centered upon installing. Clips were near the bottom when the panel arrived and that won't work later if bolted onto the door. It's not easy to hold the metal panel and move clips up; one moves both.

This product "saved" my 2001 Jetta TDI's life. With 347,000 miles plus on it and an AC compressor that needs replacement, its time had come when the window would not move. The book value of the car does not justify a new compressor or the cost of getting a new regulator installed. But for sixty bucks I figured it would be worth my time--and it did take time.I'm pretty handy but never had attempted a window regulator. There are some good YouTube videos. Watch them, take notes and be sure you log how all the wires and rods run. Some need to be between the regulator and the door, others between the regulator and the inside panel. It's also a good idea to buy a package of the trim fasteners, as some of the old ones are likely broken--or will break as you remove the inner door panel.There are about a dozen electrical connections that must be unplugged. All are different size/shapes so no worries about switching them out. But it is a bit intimidating and you have to figure out how each releases. Again, the YouTube videos are helpful here. Getting the one to the door latch out was a particular PIA for me. Be careful to note which holes the wires and rods pass through, as well as remembering each bushing's place to go. When I installed the new regulator I initially passed the door lock rod up through a small hole that actually was for a mounting screw. That rod goes through a larger hole to give it the play it needs. Took me a bit to figure that out.As others have noted, be sure the clips that hold the window are at the fairly high level that line up with the panel holes so you can tighten the clips to the window glass bottom. Those clips can be moved (before you attach the motor) by pulling both up/down together with even force while holding the sheet metal panel. Also loosen the screws on the clips enough to accommodate the window glass thickness before you mount the regulator. If you have to loosen them after and you go out too far you risk the screw falling out; then you will have to remove the regulator to retrieve it.The fit of the product was exact and (perhaps I was lucky) there was no need to fine tune the window placement on the clips once I dropped the window down and tightened the screws. The window opened and closed perfectly right from the get-go.
