Nothing screams "I took this fork from the diner down the road" louder than these. They get the job done and you're not worried about if one goes missing because they're pretty plain and light weight. I gave them a 4 because they're just meh, but they do work and came individually wrapped.

It actually functions just as it says. I use distilled water and I add a little Colloidal Silver water to the tank and I have never had slime, smell or mineral dust. No gross growth of any kind and no scrubbing any part of it. It runs continuously in my bedroom as I have a disease so I need at least 50% humidity or I'm in a lot of pain. The app is modern and sleek. I can't recommend this humidifier enough and I've tried many different units. The hot steam is actually hot and the cool mist is actually cold and helps me regulate the temp in my room precisely. I love it and am ordering a couple more for other rooms in my home. The hot mist lasts about 7 hours at maximum output with a gallon of distilled water and the cool mist lasts twice as long. Definitely use distilled water and the Colloidal Silver additive as it has a lot of grooves that junk could collect in but I've not had that issue in two months of continuous use.

I dont know if I have hard water. I have only had this humidifier about 45 days. I have cleaned it every 2 weeks . Not liking how it smells already. Each time I took it apart and meticulously cleaned it. Got out the manual and read you can clean using a bleach solution. Giving that a try. I also read that distilled water is recommended but distilled water is about $3.00/Gallon. I fill this everyday that would cost me about$100/month for distilled water. I have changed the pads, it came with a couple of replacements but there is another $20. spent no for a supply order of these pads. So beware of the cost and maintenance requirement.

In some ways, this is a review I would prefer not to write. The unit is attractive, works extremely well, is quiet and accurate, the app is clear and easy to use. In short, a really nice unit. The problem with this and all of its type is that it requires de-mineralized water based upon my observations.I bought the unit with the extra de-mineralization cartridges, but they don't cut it. The first clue to this was that my hepa filter went into overdrive. I thought this might be some side effect unrelated to particulate matter. But my PM2.5 meter was off the chart as well. Normally it is close to zero. The water in our are has a TDS of 150, so not particularly high. It varies throughout the year as different water supply sources are used. To try to confirm that the problem was accurately defined, I captured some of the mist to see if I could get a TDS reading out of it. That turned out to be slow going and I never got that far. In the process some of the drops spilled out onto the cover of the machine. By the next day, there were clear signs of deposits around each and every one of those fairly small drops. If one does have a need to increase humidity in the house, consideration needs to be given to supplying it with water at extra cost. A gallon a day was the typical usage in my case. One approach might be to couple it with an under-the-sink type of reverse osmosis system ($250 or so). This needs to be of the type that removes all solids, not the type that adds them back in for flavor. Then you need to add in the cost of replacement cartridges.Other than that elephant in the room, the unit works really well, hence I still give it 5 stars.
