The NEEWER 67mm Black Diffusion 1 Filter was delivered in a customary Neweer filter retail cardboard box which contained a hard plastic case, a cleaning cloth and a customer service leaflet – fairly standard practice from the brand. Inside the hard translucent case is the actual filter, through which you can see the tiny black speckled ‘mist’ covering through the lens against a light. As usual with Neweer the filter is solidly built with excellent threads that wind down onto my Nikon camera lens smoothly, providing a solid fit.The effect when taking pictures is very pronounced, what I would call a thick effect which is not subtle as some filters such as the 1/8 or 1/4 will be, so this has a very distinct diffused look which you would use in particular circumstances rather than as a daily go-to filter. This will diffuse the light and add plenty of bloom to the shots, so you will lose a little of the sharp edges you would have without the filter, but you gain the dream-like quality that it produces. There is a small hit on colours but that can be corrected in post.If the effect is one you are hoping to achieve then this filter will do an admirable job, and at almost half the price of some competitors, so a very good budget option especially at the time of this review when a 20% off voucher is offered on the purchase.
