I have purchased this in the past, many years ago. Slight design changes make it a bit harder to adjust than before. It does still have the superior safety considerations for the dog, as it does not twist the dogs head. It pulls the nose down, rather than sideways and up. Less chance of neck injury. We'll worth the cost.

This collar is my ticket to no more pulling! My 75 pound standard poodle walks great until he sees a distraction like other dog a squirrel or even a leaf on a windy day. The Sporn head collar has made a vast improvement. The placement of the head collar has you guiding the dog up very high on the neck which gives much more control. I like how the collar easily transforms into a regular collar. Since I have been using this collar, my dog is listening and walking loose leash!

This halter is far superior to others which I have tried and my dog hated. This one is soft and the nose strap is not too wide and fits perfectly without rubbing against the eyes or mouth.It also had the immediate effect of stopping my dog pulling, though the dog frequently stops to try and rub it off! This hasn't worked so far which I think is due to the easily adjustable fit. When the dog is sitting the nose strap does slacken off and it is possible then for the dog to wriggle it's nose out. But you still have the collar on so the dog can't escape.I think this halter is as kind as possible for a restraint, and if it means you can control your dog it is a fabulous help. I can't believe what a difference it has made. I appreciate it is no substitute for correct training but with a large 8st German Shepherd (the same weight as myself almost) it enables me to have far more control over a powerful dog . I thought it would be the same as other halters which I've had no success with, but this is far superior and worth paying a bit extra for.

I like this Sporn head halter a bit better than the Holt (used to be Haltie) head harness, mostly because it's much harder for the dog to slip out while they are lunging. I've used these on a 70 lb pitbull mix who was a strong puller and lunger. The Holt/Haltie harness worked well, but there were a few times when she lunged, got turned around (with her head facing me) and thrashed so hard that she pulled her muzzle out of the Holt harness, leaving only the thin safety line attached to her collar. This Sporn halter pulls from the back of her head so she can't thrash out of the harness. The upside of attaching at the back of her head is that she doesn't step over the leash and get tangled as often. Also, this Sporn design allows her to open her mouth when yawning or panting, whereas the Haltie restricted her from opening her mouth all the way (only a little bit, but it was noticiable).A couple of downsides is that also because the leash attaches at the back of her head, I have slightly less leverage and control than the Haltie when she lunges forward (the Haltie would tend to turn her if she lunged forward, but with this Sporn, my arm takes most of the force). Also the collar part does tend to rotate around, causing the nose loop to rotate near or over my dog's eyes. Every few minutes I have to rotate the collar back so it is centered on my dog's face. And the spring-loaded adjustable clip that secures the lead at the back of the head does tend to slip and become loose over the course of a walk. It's not a huge issue, but I do wish that it was a bit more secure. I cinch it back up if I notice it's really loose.A note on sizing: If you're deciding between Medium and Large, measure around the top of your dog's neck, just behind the ears. The collar part on the Medium expands to max 14.5 inches. If your dog's neck is larger than this, get a Large. (Though in truth, the Large only goes down to min 16.5 inches, but at least it will fit around your dog's neck. Sporn should really create a Medium-Large inbetween size for dogs between 14.5 and 16.5 inches.)
