For a "budget pedal" I'm really liking the distortion this little guy puts out. Tucked between a couple of distortion pedals that were about 3x the cost, I find myself stomping the button on this one quite often. It is nice to have a couple distortion options so you don't have to mess with twisting knobs between songs, plus all have a different feel. This one is a great "beginner distortion" as it sounds good, and you're not out $120+ to find out you don't like distortion...And for those of you that have several distortion pedals, think about tucking one of these on the board. It adds a nice little crunch-n-scratch to the distortion.

I'm using this for a high gain setting. The sound is plenty distorted! The tone control has a nice range to it, allowing you to dial in a variety of tones. The toggle switch is a nice touch, although I usually leave it on the normal setting.

This is a great budget pedal for some heavy sounds, although I actually think it shines a bit more at lower distortion levels, acting as a bit more of a fuzzy overdrive. If you really want to get things heavy, it will do it, but (as another reviewer mentioned), you may need to ride the volume knob a bit if you intend to shift the distortion knob while playing, as it adds quite a bit of gain as well. Overall, the pedal works well and will give a pretty hefty crunch. This won't be my go-to, but considering the quality of the pedal and the price point, it's hard to give this anything other than five stars.

Im giving this pedal 5 Stars based off off the Build quailty, Durability, and Clearity of the signal. However, with all pedals, if this is a good fit for you will be based on your preferences and if it plays well with your rig.First off, i chose this pedal because on the amazon page i saw the 3 way toggle switch was Normal, Soft and Turbo. so i immediately thought this was based off of the Boss DS-2 with different gain stages and soft would be more like an OCD used at overdrive settings, normal would be Turbo 1 on the DS-2 and hard would be Turbo 2. I was somewhat right, but mostly wrong.i used this pedal with a variety of fender single coil guitars and a gibson CS 336.this pedal was closer to the front of the chain used with Surfybear reverb, a tape delay and tremolo all going into the front of a twin reverb. With the settings i was getting just straight distortion at low settings in soft mode. the eq seemed somewhat flat which was what i suspected but no matter how far back i set the gain, it was still higher than i would have liked it for an overdrive, however i could use this as a lead tone. next i went to Normal. all this did was add more gain, there may have been a small bump in the mids, but not enough to where i noticed it.Finally there was the tense setting. This mainly made the pedal go into metal mode. this would be good for early metallica of megadeth. maybe even some would say this chugs, but it definately would sing more with humbuckers than single coils. For my taste, this wouldnt be a mainstay on my pedalboard, but then again i dont really play metal or stoner rock. this could maybe be good stacked for shoegaze but its mainly built for heavy genres.Besides all that, the Metal enclosure is sturdy. the 3 way toggle switch is more durable than alot of EHX toggle switches i have gotten, and the knobs are nice and tight with no static when turning the pots. the pedal is a standad size with side mounted jacks and power input.

There's a lot to like in this pedal. It's in a metal housing, first off. It feels incredibly solid. But what most impresses me is the range of the gain knob. You can go from the lightest bit of overdrive all the way up to the heaviest, fuzziest distortion. Then, combined with the Tone and the switch, you can get a huge range of overdrive/fuzz/distortion tones.I'm not sure the switch values are named correctly. Personally, I like Soft (which seems to have the most treble). "Tense" adds in a bunch of low-end. "Normal" to me seems a bit muddled? Whatever, though. Between the 3 you're getting a ton of variety. It can also act as a simple volume + low end pedal if you make the gain 0 and put it at "Tense".This is a great pedal. I have all sorts of Tube Screamer clones, budget distortions, a few different fuzz. Honestly, you can get a tremendous range of tones out of this.
