I was looking for a tent for a large group to take to the beach in Florida. This thing worked great. 8 of us could get under it to escape the sun and heat. Once you set it up the first time it is easier to do the 2nd time. Big plus is it actually fit back in the carry bag which is rare. It is kind of heavy though. I did return this because it was missing a latch loop for one of the side covers but fully plan to get another for the next season. They didn’t have an option to replace, just return. Great purchase for bigger family’s going to the beach.

UPDATE - We upgraded the stakes to some heavy duty ones, and this thing survived a very severe thunderstorm and downpour. It kept the ground completely dry until it was literally flooding in from underneath (nothing you can do at that point!) It also stayed up with sustained winds a whole night with the sides down. Count me impressed. Kept us cool and shaded in 96 degree weather as well! This works super well as a rain or shade cover! It withstood a steady rain shower while beach camping. The 12x12 is a nice size, we needed something that could pack down small since we fit everything in a smaller hatchback car. We place it over the screen room of our tent. You do need a lot of room to set this up, because the poles stick out far before you bend them. Setup is a workout for 2 people, but tear down is quick. The bag it comes in is impossible to squeeze it back in, we got something a bit bigger to use for storage.

It is a cool little shelter and I am 99% happy with it. If I had to nitpick my only complaints are as follows.> only 2 shades for the sides. It would be nice to have the other 2.> a little tricky to assemble. Definitely want a pal to help you put it up and the direction it comes with are not super intuitive. But if you take your time it gets easier the more you do it> the stakes are a bit wimpy, I plan to up grade mine as I have already bent two of them but it is pretty standard for the product. There are so many pro's tho I highly recommend for someone that has the patience to set it up. It is roomy and definitely makes a temperature difference in the Florida heat. The shape is nice and appealing. The canvas seems sturdy so far and it did catch some good winds just before hurricane Nicole this year.I'm looking forward to see if we can double the side shade panels as a projector screen, outdoor gaming is gonna be so awesome!

Assembles basically the same way as a tent. Uses 4 long, thick poles for the main structure, and then 2 smaller skinnier ones for the top part. I also liked that I could back my car into any one of the openings and open up the trunk door inside (or just park my car all the underneath it for shade) which is what I got it for.For reference - I drive a Subaru Crosstrek. Any wider of a car would still fit, but there'd be no room for you to squeeze by through the same opening, for example. The best thing about this canopy is how STURDY and SPACIOUS it is. Once you have it set up and staked down, it's not moving!! And with two sidewalls, it provides great shade and privacy. I'm 6' tall and could stand up easily and walk around the whole thing. The only downside is that even though assembling this thing is SIMPLE, it is NOT a one-man job. I did it by myself and it took me around an hour and I was exhausted by the end of it.With two people, though, I could see this thing being up in 10 minutes. It's just really difficult to get the tension on those poles and get the thing lifted up by yourself, and there is a LOT of tension on those structure poles (which is a good thing). They are strong AF and hold the canopy steady even in strong wind.I ended up selling it to a friend after the first use because I was looking for something I could just pop up myself in a few minutes without breaking a sweat, as I take frequent road trips with just me and my dog - but for any other situation, I think this is a great buy and great value for the money!
