This is a quality game set with good products included. The dice, tokens, etc. are good for playing the game, but I wish they had included some cheat sheet cards (laminated) to lay out for fast reference to the outcome of the dice rolls. This would make it easier for the younger ones as they learn the rules of the game as they apply to the game of Baseball. In all, it is fast enough to hold their attention and I think they will learn about the game of baseball along the way. I will be making my own cheat sheet cards and will be clear coating them onto some wooden stands to place up around the board for kids to see the outcome faster.

Un juego de mesa divertido, tanto para aficionados al Béisbol como a quienes no conocen de este deporte. Instructivo fácil de entender, viene en idioma español. Difícil de aburrirse, pueden ser 2 o más personas quienes lo pueden jugar.

This is a fun baseball boardgame that balances ease of gameplay with realism. As a baseball geek, I'll say up front that the die results don't quite equate to real-life MLB probabilities. Get Stat-O-Matic if that really matters to you! For me, the game is close enough, and the outcome of a What About Baseball game looks like a real baseball game. I played my four-year-old son this morning (it's that easy), and he somehow beat me in a 3-0 shutout. The setup with a pitcher's die, batter's dice, and two other dice for other plays is perfectly satisfactory and lets you play a whole baseball game without it becoming tedious. Use your imagination to fill in the details: I treat outs on rolls 1-4 like groundouts, and 5-8 as flyouts, for instance. The gameplay is so straightforward that it's easy to modify. If you're a geek, you can tinker with the dice outcomes a bit. Allow each player a cleanup hitter, for instance, who singles on a roll of 8 and so on. Another suggestion would be to reverse the outcomes for triples and home runs. A lot of games treat a triple as an outcome between a double and a homerun, but the reality is that homeruns are much more common and triples very rare, so give a homerun on 11 and a triple on 12. Or not! What makes this game a success is above all its simplicity, so you can play a straightforward game or modify it to suit you. It's a nice game and nicely made.

This is a great game for capturing the feel and basic operations of a baseball game. I got it because my kids are getting to an age where they are playing baseball and kickball, and I wanted a way to get them introduced to how baseball works. This game did that. It's very easy to learn and play and provided a lot of opportunity to talk to the kids about baseball in general and strategies that players use, etc.The only drawback, and I use the term loosely, is that the game is mechanically set up to simulate the same basic odds of what happens in a baseball game. In other words, hits are not as likely as another outcome (strike, foul, etc.), and the outcome of most hits is getting out as opposed to getting on base. While this is in fact what happens in most baseball games, it can get a little dry when you're rolling dice. Getting on base does not happen that often, and getting a run happens even less often, and that can get a little tiresome around the sixth inning or so. This is one circumstance where I might have been willing to fudge a little on the "realism" for the sake of more excitement in the board game.
